About Us

Government Industrial Training Institute Ramban (ITI) was established in the year 1979 by the Technical Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir under the overall aegis of Directorate General Employment and Training (DGE&T), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India New Delhi. This Institute is situated at Kowbagh Ramban. Ramban District is a newly formed district of the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India. Ramban is located at 33°15′N 75°15′E/ 33.25°N 75.25°E. It has an average elevation of 1156 metres (3792 feet).The boundary lines of new district have come to be drawn from Patnitop on its South, Assar on its East, Gool on its west, and Banihal on its north. The district Ramban comprises 02 Tehsils i.e. Ramban and Banihal and 04 CD blocks, namely Banihal, Gool, Ramban and Ramsoo. Located along river 'Chenab' also known as 'Chanderbhaga' on National Highway-1A. Ramban District has 2 assembly constituencies: Banihal and Ramban. The Institute is in the heart of Ramban along the river Chenab.

Govt.ITI Ramban is among the 53 Govt. ITIs presently existing in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The ITI has covered 14 kanals of land and about 7000sft constructed area. This Institute started with the five trades i.e. Electrician, Welder, Cutting & Tailoring, Carpentry and Stenography. In the mean time one more trade namely Computer Operator & Programming Assistant was sanctioned and Carpentry was replaced by Building Maintenance by the Government taking the total strength of trades to Six. The Institute is also running 2nd shift in One trades under Self Finance Scheme .

The Institute is now covered under the scheme “Up gradation of 1396 ITIs under Public Private Partnership mode” with the up gradation and introduction of new trades. Moreover short term courses under Skill Development Initiative (SDI) scheme and Skill Development for the 8000 youths of Jammu and Kashmir (SDYJK-8000 Scheme), Inside/outside the state are also running successfully in this Institute. The trainees after successfully passing the All India Trade Test (AITT) in NCVT trades are issued NCVT Certificates by the Ministery of labour & Employment ,Govt. of India While Candidates successfully passing the State Trade Test in SCVT Trades are issued SCVT Certificates by the Directorate of Technical Education Jammu & Kashmir. The Trainees who complete the short term courses are issued the National Proficiency Certificates by NCVT valid nationally as well as internationally. The maximum pass outs have been working in Govt. as well as Private sector besides some have started their own establishments. The institute involved not only in training activities but also performing successful activities such as motivation campaign, entrepreneurship campaign, campus interview, and cultural activities as well as sports activities.

Mission

a) To provide vocational training to early school leavers, existing workers, ITI graduates, etc. to improve their employability by optimally utilizing the infrastructure available in Govt. private institutions and the Industry. Existing skills of the persons can also be tested and certifies under this scheme.
b) To build capacity in the area of development of competency standards, course curricula, learning material and assessment standards in the country.
c) To develop a talent pool with the competence to take on the challenges of the present & future.
d) Facilitates improvement in quality & quantity of individual contribution & provide a congenial work environment .

Facilities

FACILTIES AVAILABLE IN GOVT. ITI RAMBAN

Library:

The Library facility is available in the Institute for the Students as well as Staff. The Library comprises of sufficient Technical and Non Technical books , Reading material (Technical) required for the trainees and Instructional Staff from National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI) Chennai . Other books from the Private Publishers are also available in the Library. : Latest Training manual as well as Syllabii of all trades are also available. In addition to Technical, books other Magazines along with daily newspapers are also coming regularly. The Trainees as well as Staff is taking full benefit of Institute Library regularly .Updating the Library such as addition of more furniture, books etc. is under action

Sports Facility:

Govt. ITI Govt. ITI Ramban provides a good Sports facility for the Trainees undergoing training in the different trades both for Male as well as Female Students. There is a big Sports ground surrounding the ITI of which trainees are getting full benefit by playing different games during the time spared for Extra Co curricular Activities in the Time Table. Many ITI Students have participated and excelled in different playing activites Cricket, Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Kho-Kho, Marathons. Sports Material Required for the Trainees would be available in ITI whenever needed.

Hostel Facility:

The Trainees from far off places like Banihal, Gool, Rajgrah, Jaat ghali who got admission in different Trade are provided free Hostel facility for the smooth conduct of their training Programme. Govt. ITI Ramban has its own accommodation for the trainees who belong to far off places so that they can be accommodated well without facing any difficulty.

Industrial Visits:

In order to get the 1st hand training in true practical sense, the trainees who have got sufficient theoretical training in the Institute would visit the Industries located at Kathua , Samba. Udhampur and Jammu for getting the On Job training depending upon the different type of Industries. The Trainees of Electrician, Plumber, Welder, MMV and Mech. R/TV would find ample Opportunities for practical training and it will greatly help them to find jobs in these industries also. Industrial Visits are often the part of the training curriculum and trainees regularly visit the industries just before two months of completion of their Training Programme

PLACEMENTS ACTIVITIES:

The Technical Education Department is in constant endeavor to get in touch with different companies of the State/Country to ensure placement of ITI Pass outs in different trades from time to time. Accordingly, Campus Interviews for ITI passed out trainees are conducted in major ITIs of the State. In past, Placement Fair for placement of ITI passed outs has been organized in the beginning of the current calendar year in which 19 different Companies and Industries besides the more than 1000 candidates participated. 187 passed outs ITI trainees were selected for placements on spot.

Furthermore, the Govt. ITI Ramban always remains in touch, with the Placement Cell at Jammu and the institution keeps updating the existing and pass outs trainees regarding placement drives, sessions, placement/Job fair organized by various industries and companies within or outside the state, which generally required skilled and trained ITI pass outs. Our institution makes the students awared about their future by Counseling and holding job related workshops/Seminars within the institute during training period. The institute dedicately and truly committed to place the not only the skilled pass outs of the institutions but also the trainees who are undergoing the training in the institution.. The institute counsel the interested and skilled and trained students who want to prove their names and earn for their families pertaining how to protect their future cause.
